Who am I?
Hi! As you already know, my name is Paarth Kukreja. I was born in India and I'm [age] years old. I currently study at North London Collegiate School in Dubai. I consider myself to be a tech enthusiast with a special interest in web development and data science.
What do I know?
I'm familiar with front-end frameworks such as React.js, Vue.js, and Astro (this portfolio is built using all three of them). Additionally, I have experience with full-stack frameworks like Next.js and Nuxt3.js. Apart from web development, I also have a keen interest in Python-based machine learning and data science.
About the Company
Orbit Showtime Network (OSN) is a Dubai-based satellite TV company that serves the Middle East and North Africa region. They offer a wide range of content, including trending series, award-winning movies, documentaries, and more. You can watch live TV and stream exclusive content on OSN+, which features offerings from giants like HBO, Paramount+, Marvel, and OSN Originals.
What I'm Doing There
During my time at OSN, I helped make an Image Tagger that takes an image of the poster of a TV show or a movie and identifies relevant tags for it, such as genre, media type, people, and objects from the poster. This was done by using a pre-trained AI model from OpenAI (GPT-4o).
About the Non-Profit
Thinking Huts is an American non-profit organisation that uses innovative 3D printing technology to construct schools in lower-income countries, closing the global education gap. Their mission also includes creating local jobs and promoting sustainable construction methods.
What I'm Doing There
Currently, I'm redesigning their website's landing page to be more captivating to potential donors and encourage them to donate. I've also helped integrate a CRM (HubSpot) to help better market and communicate with our donors.
Dubai
Moving to Dubai from Singapore has been one of the toughest yet best experiences in my life. Living in a city that is so diverse, so modern, and just as safe as Singapore has been an amazing experience. Dubai is a city that has a lot to offer, from the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, to the world's largest mall, the Dubai Mall. The city is also home to some of the best restaurants, hotels, and shopping centres in the world. The people in Dubai are also very friendly and welcoming, which has made my transition to the city much easier. I'm very happy to be living in Dubai and I'm excited to see what the future holds for me.
Singapore
Having lived over 10 years in Singapore, it has become a huge part of my life. I have so many fond memories, so many friends, and so much more I've left behind. Living on a tiny island 50km by 27km with all sorts of attractions, from UNESCO World Heritage sites like the Botanic Gardens to the World's largest Indoor Waterfalls in Airports, F1 Events on common roads, Gardens by the Bay, and Marina Bay Sands is an entirely different and unique experience of Singapore. The blend of an extremely modern city with centuries-old beautiful traditions like the Lunar New Year, and its cultural diversity celebrating Indian, Western, and Asian traditions alike was a different experience entirely. It was a great city and a beautiful country, it will always hold a special place in my heart, and I hope I get another chance to live there again!
About the School
North London Collegiate School (NLCS) is an international British school in Dubai with ~1100 students. It is part of the North London Collegiate School Family of Schools. Teaching the MYP curriculum until Grade 10, and IB DP post Grade 10.
My Experience
NLCS is by far the best school I've been to. Being reputed as one of the best schools in the region, it definitely holds up to its name as an NLCS School. I've made many great friends and enjoy the enriching and challenging atmosphere of the school. I'm currently pursuing the International Baccalaureate Diploma and have taken Mathematics (AA HL), Computer Science (HL), Physics (HL), French (Ab Initio), Economics (SL), and English (Language & Literature SL) as my subject choices. Before Sixth Form, adapting to the new IB MYP Curriculum from IGCSE had been slightly challenging, but I've managed to persevere through that and perform well during the examinations.
About the School
Dover Court International School (DCIS) is an international British school in Singapore with ~1800 students. It is part of the Nord Anglia Family of Schools. Teaching the iGCSE curriculum until Year 11, and IB DP post Year 11.
My Experience
From Year 2 to Year 10, I've been in DCIS, and my time there has been amazing! Over the years, I made many friends and studied subjects such as Computer Science, Business Studies, Maths, English, Design and Technology, All Sciences, and Global Citizenship. Unfortunately, I couldn't finish Year 11 in this school as we had to relocate to Dubai. Nonetheless, this school has given me vital knowledge and helped me become who I am today!
